General Buratai while renaming the counter-insurgency operation to “Operaton Zaman Lafiya Dole,” had urged the troops not to wait for Boko Haram to attack but to take the battle to the insurgents’ hideout. PRNigeria gathered that through a combined operation involving the ground troops and airforce, the Nigerian military mercilessly dealt devastating blow on the terrorists who could not escape during the encounter Some of the items recovered from the terrorists included vehicles heavily laden with Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs), motorcycles, trucks mounted with Anti-Aircraft Guns, Anti-Aircraft Gun, General Purpose Machine, Gunbox of Anti-Aircraft Gun Ammunition and Rifles. While reluctant to provide the exact figure of casualty from the operation, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sani Usman Kukasheka confirmed that recent military operations against the terrorists had been very successful as the terrorists were on the run. Colonel Kukasheka said that in one of the recent operations, the military attacked terrorists’ logistics base where IED was planted with connected wires traced to a kingpin’s residence. ‘Buhari Plans To Bomb & Destroy The Niger Delta’ – Ijaw Youth Council

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) on Saturday, July 25, 2015, said that it had uncovered plans by President Muhammadu Buhari to send federal troops to invade the Niger Delta with Ijaw communities as the target. The IYC, in a statement by its spokesman, Eric Omare, said that information at its disposal indicated that the Federal Government would begin the deployment of the military this week. It called on the international community and the people of Nigeria to be aware of the imminent military onslaught on the region which would result in serious humanitarian crisis. The apex Ijaw youth body said that the former President, Goodluck Jonathan, did not go to war with Buhari in the March 28 presidential election to warrant Buhari’s alleged animosity towards the Niger Delta people. The statement read in part, “The IYC has it in good authority that President Buhari has an agenda to bomb and destroy the Niger-Delta region especially the Ijaw areas. “The military movement into the Niger Delta region we have been reliably informed would commence this week. “The IYC, the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta people wish to alert Nigerians and the international community on this impending humanitarian disaster. “President Buhari did not go to a war with the Niger Delta people in the March 28, 2015 presidential election with Niger Delta-born Goodluck Jonathan but only contested an election for which he came out victorious. “We are, therefore, at a loss as to why President Buhari has decided to treat the Niger Delta region like an enemy zone and a conquered territory. “Only two days ago in far away United States, President Buhari confirmed that he would not treat the Niger Delta region like other regions”. The IYC also condemned Friday’s military invasion of Ijaw House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, which houses the administrative headquarters of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), the IYC and the state Ministry of Culture and Ijaw National Affairs ahead of the cancelled meeting of ex-militant leaders on Saturday. “A combined team of military and police officers in the early hours of Friday, the 24th of July, 2015 invaded and took over Ijaw House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to prevent ex-Niger Delta agitators from having their proposed meeting on Saturday, the 25th of July, 2015″, IYC alleged. It described the action as “illegal, unconstitutional and a draw back to the dark days of military dictatorship where Nigerians were deprived of their fundamental rights”. The IYC reminded Buhari that the country was operating a constitutional democracy which presupposed the rule of law.

8 Categories Of Occupation People Do That Brings Forth Insult From The Society

People work to avert hunger, poverty and strife towards survival despite the high rate of unemployment. Our nation is a place where all sorts of discrimination is our culture (jobs, institutions, course of study and many more). However, discrimination has even gone worst to the extent that people ridicule, bully and insult other people by their jobs just to boost their ego and bring other people down Below we shall discuss them. 1. Police Force When we talk about corruption in Nigeria, the first thing that comes to people’s mind is that corruption originates from the Police force. Sometimes, you will even hear women saying they can’t marry policemen because of the prejudice and trust issues that goes with the job. 2. NEPA/PHCN The way people rain curses on NEPA officials for the epileptic power supply in Nigeria is grievous. People are always quick to talk bad about them and I have witnessed a scene where students thrashed NEPA officials for disconnecting their wires form the pole. 3. Road safety/VIO/LASMA corps The above mentioned jobs also brings forth humiliation. Even when this people stop you to check your car documents, you will always have an impression that all they need is money. In some cases, you will see people bringing out money from their pockets immediately they are stopped even before hearing what these officials have to say. 4. Conductor (Agbero) These people are always seen as local. The amount of insults laid on them cannot be over-emphasized especially in Lagos. When a conductor fails to give his passengers change on time, insults follow suite. Agbero are not exempted from this. I’m yet to see an educated young lady taking an Agbero to her home, introducing him as her fiance. (only if he’s extremely rich). Tosyne2much, naijaboiy, kinglekan, kingtom, peeparty, etc who live in Lagos can bear me witness 5. Mobile Customer Care Agents When telecom operators like MTN, GLO, ETISALAT and AIRTEL deducts as low as N2 from some customers’ accounts, they will call the customer care line and curse the agents on small god’s names like sango, obatala, etc. 6. Prostitution Circumstances has led young ladies into prostitution that they use it as their source of income for survival. They are always being ridiculed and mouth-thrashed without any consideration for what might have led them into it. 7. Mechanic and transporters Few months ago, I boarded a bus from Ibadan to Lagos as It developed a fault in the course of the journey. See the insults and bashing rolling from every angle towards the driver. The driver further reign curse on tajudeen, his mechanic. 8. Lecturing Lecturers are small gods in Nigerian institutions but they are also being ridiculed by students. Students don’t have effrontery to ridicule lectures in their presence but when they go behind them, they ridicule them, and in some cases, some plan on how to deal with them especially when it comes to the issues of results (carry over).

Boko Haram Storms Villages On Motorcycles, Kills 25 In Adamawa – CNN

A bloody and terrifying raid by Boko Haram on Friday left at least 25 people dead in three villages in eastern Nigeria’s Adamawa state, according to residents and a local government official. Adamawa state borders Borno state, Boko Haram’s birth place and main stronghold. Storming in on motorcycles, the gunmen attacked the neighboring villages of Kopa, Maikadire and Yaffa around 9 a.m. local time, shooting and killing residents, according to witnesses and local government chairman Maina Ularamu. The gunmen are former residents who joined Boko Haram and left to live in Boko Haram camps, according to Ularamu and the village residents. After the Nigerian military launched a campaign of bombing raids and ground assaults on their camps, those Boko Haram militants sought to escape by returning to their villages. Villagers tipped off military authorities and the returnees were arrested. Friday’s attacks were retaliation against those villages, according to witnesses and the government chairman. Boko Haram Founded 12 years ago by charismatic cleric, Mohammed Yusuf, Boko Haram calls for a pure Islamic state in Nigeria. Yusuf was killed by police in 2009 and many say his death made Boko Haram even more violent and defiant. Abubakar Shekau took control of the group and ramped up the attacks. Murders and kidnappings of Westerners became a Boko Haram signature. Under Shekau the group also began a bombing campaign that targets churches, mosques and government buildings. Boko Haram translates to “Western education is a sin” in the local Hausa language. The militant group says it wants stricter enforcement of Sharia law across Nigeria, which is split between a majority Muslim north and a mostly Christian south. Boko Haram’s attacks have escalated in recent years in an apparent effort to destroy the Nigerian government.
